Fruity Two A Cockatoo called out this morning ... Sounded like a bird I used to have. I went outside, and called out "Fruity!" (The name of our bird) It seemed odd because I had been thinking about how Fruity had gotten on over the last couple of years after she flew into the wild. Fruity was an Alexandrian Parrot, highly intelligent and VERY mischievous. She also had NO FEATHERS when she arrived at our home. In fact, she was a bird on death row at a local pet shop. The previous owner had no idea about Alexandrians, and kept Fruity in a tiny cage, and fed her only on Sunflower Seeds. This effectively drove the bird mad, and she plucked all her own feathers. She arrived hurt, distrusting and distressed but when taken out of the tiny cage and let to walk about the house (She could not fly, obviously) the little Soul started to come back to life in her bird body. Her feathers started to regrow, but she remained mischievous. I asked the Pet Shop what the history was, and apparently a woman had only ever used a stick near the Parrot, and used to push her where she wanted the bird to go. You see, Fruity would BITE if she felt threatened. But despite the fearsome beak and dangerous look, if you picked her up in your hand and put her on your shoulder, she was quite happy. Pics tell the story below, starting with the ORIGINAL Fruity:
Pics of the Cockatoo that turned up today!
The "Thing" with the peg was exactly what Fruity would do to any peg she found. She loved to pull them apart and drop the metal spring in the middle to the ground. You can see if you look closely the small metal ring around the Left Leg ... That means she is a raised bird. Make your own mind up about friends returning, reincarnation, and all of that ... What amazes me is that the original Fruity had been an immigrant, lonely and afraid, without so much as a feather when we first found her. A little love and care, and she comes good... Then it seems like she leaves without gratitude ... But then, when you least expect it... Here she is! Returned as a beautiful Native of the Land she immigrated to in her last life. There has to be a message: Maybe ... Love and Care for those in need is Important.
