The THREE is unique in that it can combine creativity and organisation. If they are not artists, they will be running an art gallery, if they are not a writer, they will be involved with publishing.
Many successful business people are strong in the energy of the Three.
The Three is a risk taker, a gambler, and often an alcoholic to boot. They can swing from opposites like a monkey swings through the trees. This is a number that “breathes”: the inward breath being the sad, whimsical effect, the outbreathing, the positive uplifting effect.
The Three energy may put you through bouts of huge depression, but as soon as it gets active suddenly everything becomes fine and life is wonderful once more.
The Three child is a joy to have around when they are happy, for they literally glow with smiles, but when the dark clouds descend, they become unreachable and very moody. The problem with the Three is identity, or more to the point, a lack of it. They are so ready to explore and express every imaginable possibility that they often get lost in their dreams, and tend to become sullen and withdrawn, rather than ask for assistance.
However, put a Three up on a pedestal, just stroke their vanity a little, and they will soon purr like pussy cats. Grudgingly at first, of course, but be assured that even if they know you don't mean it, they will love you hugely for loving them enough to bother.
This is both the strength and weakness of the Three vibration. They adore recognition, yet so often fear this very thing, thus creating a virtual storm of discontent that, in an odd way, forces them to create something.
Creating “stuff” is part of their inbuilt survival factor. This natural tension of the Three is what activates the creative force inside them.
You will see this pattern again and again in the lives of most creative artists. Beethoven always had some tremendous upset in his life that somehow triggered the production of another symphony. Artists and writers classically become sullen and withdraw shortly before they begin work on major projects. By understanding the energy of the Three we can avoid all of this, and just get on with the job at hand.
The core issue with the Three wraps around issues of self worth, or more to the point, the lack of it. This is why Three children need quiet praise with every thing they do, and a very soft criticism when they err.
The Three needs to understand the Law of Completion (opposite Number is the Ten) for, with their boundless creativity, they tend to jump from one project to another, getting lost and confused. This can cause them to distrust their own creative process, and nothing seems to get finished.
This is why so many Three's end up in the lower end of society. They are the misfits and dreamers who have so much promise, yet produce so few results. But it is not that they are impractical of irresponsible, it is mostly a simple lack of confidence in being able to DO as well as the other person, yet with the inner tension of knowing they can do better!
Three is a combination of the one pointedness of the One, with the paradoxical nature of the Two. How is it resolved? By getting off our rears and doing something useful. It is this simple, but of course finding motivation is not always easy.
The Three always looks for freedom, and often take to task what they see as the oppression of the masses by covert and overt forces in society.
They are the true idealists, totally disregarding practicality and commonsense, and indeed if you suggest this, they will see such a thing as some sort of compromise to be despised.
Three women generally love to dress their children as brightly as possible, and lavish them with affection. They make wonderful, reliable employees, but generally poor managers. What they lack in methodical application, however, they make up for with enthusiasm.
Money tends to run through their fingers, but often the money will be spent to buy the basic material to create something else, like the fabric for a dress for instance. Even the extravagant shopping sprees will contain useful items.
The men vibrating to the Three are much the same. Give them a house and they will want to renovate it, give them a car and they will love polishing it, and improving it. Give them a girlfriend, and they will wonder what her sister is like in bed. Curiosity runs high with the Three, and it truly is what kills the cat in this case, because the Three Male just takes things too far, gets lost, and leaves things unresolved and unfinished.
Again and again the Three vibration has to learn the Law of Cycles, or Completion, which states "All that has begun must end." Not finishing things weakens the inner nature, and leaves it psychically unbound. Like a rope that has unwound itself, the non-completion of projects weakens our hold on life, and throws us into a state of dreamlike emptiness.
Three's survive best by setting up some big project, often doing so just as everything is about to collapse on top of them. This impending doom gives them the focus to survive. To avoid this extreme swing, Three's need to learn to categorise and plan their lives in order to feel content, even though they think they hate organisation.
Three is a curious and wonderful Number which gives much flair and character to the Noumenal Chart of so many people. The psychology tends to be based on escaping the present restriction in a search for freedom. One of the really great dangers inherent here becomes abuse of drugs, which promise just this, but generally fail to deliver anything but further confusion in our lives.
The stronger personalities survive even this, however. Their will to create overrides everything else. This then becomes the great saving grace for all under the influence of the Three, that if they create something positive it will uplift their life and make all things seem worthwhile.
