The Nine is the next most misunderstood vibration after the Seven, for it represents Power and Silence, two difficult to grasp elements within the human psyche. A good part of the journey of the Nine is learning how to harmoniously marry these two distinct aspects.

Because of the internal “noise” from the need for attention that most of us are addicted to, few will grasp that true power is to be found in silence. This equates to a deep, impenetrable resolve to cease all unnecessary inner and outer activity. Silence creates the state of "No-Power", and this way of being opens us up to properly allow the force of life to flow through us. The paradox is that by using NO power, other than silence, ultimate power will manifest in our lives.

And what is this power? It is simply that nothing shall be kept from us that is in accord with the divine plan. This pure state of silent power is, of necessity, a paradox to the mind, but if you witness the way a cat will stare down a dog you will get an inkling of the process at work here.

The dog has eminently more power, and is symbolic of the universe, but the pure focus and intention of the cat will tip the balance in its favour. Thus the individual becomes, in essence, greater than the universe as a result of its focus. If the cat sought to use its own power, it would have the reverse effect. The dog would easily see that it possessed the greater strength of the two. Are we getting the picture of how the Nine works?

In Ancient Egypt, the Pharaoh and the priestcraft used Silence as the ruling force, and it allowed them to rule for thousands of years. The power of silence unleashes the ancient Dragon Energy, or the Mind Focus Energy, that is also the characteristic trait of Western Society.

And who runs Western Society? The silent, background force of bureaucracy and the money behind it. The ancient Zen Coan states: Why does the king of the Ocean rule? Because he rules from below.

The Nine Energy can open up the psychic and spiritual corridors within man. It is not abrasive like the artificial means, such as drugs and ritual, and hides in plain sight. The Law of Nine is highly visible in our society in our modern advertising culture. This uses indirect means to control the minds of viewers on TV, etc. The proliferation of Mind Training seminars around the world also speaks of the awakening of the Nine Energy.

We have just left the 1900’s and the Nine has been the ruling force for that century. The growth of silent controllers, the increase is rules, the slow restriction of freedoms, all speak of a negative Nine energy.

Yet the true, unlimited Nine energy cannot be controlled, owned, possessed or dictated to by external forces. It can only be awakened in your heart, and only through the sincere practise of Silence. This is the Power of the Nine: The individual only has to wake up to their natural state of Being, and no external fetters will control them.

The evolved Nine has an advanced sense of fairness and a powerful drive for independence. But the journey to this place often means traversing the chasms and pitfalls inherent in the mind. Many Nine's suffer simply because they think too much, and thus give away their sense of independence for a sense that the universe is much bigger than they are.

And so they feel it would be best to just fit in. The cat versus the dog: the cat can only win with pure focus and intent. In this way, the Nine imprisons itself by inversion. Iron bars do not a prison make.

Compromise is deadly for the Nine, for it ties them into lesser energies, and yet the truth is we all have to get along with each other. Because of this paradox the Nine often feels the need to run things. If they are in charge, the Nine feels less like agreements are a compromise. Thus, we will often find Nines working as directors of companies. They are the people who do not actually do anything themselves, but who organise others to do the job that most suits them. The cat staring down the dog.

Nines will also work behind the scenes as researchers and development officers. Here they do the groundwork, so that others can take over when there is a sound concept to create. We will find the energy of the Nine everywhere, especially as the last decade has been 1900's and so EVERYONE will have a nine in their chart, somewhere.

The 1900's have been the years of the technical revolution, with abuse of power via this technology growing on a grand scale. The mid 2000's will level this out, but an exceedingly difficult time will precede this. (Author Note: The financial crisis of early 2000’s is the sign of the Nine energy breaking. The above words were first recorded in 1991)

The end of the Nine cycle, the end of the decade, and the end of the century is an awesome combination Numerologically speaking. Our next few hundred years have already been charted, directly because of the 1900’s.

The Nine Child can be difficult, as they often demand their own way. You might get cross with them, and they will in turn go cross at you for going cross at them. They have an unbreakable will, and if they feel they are correct nothing you can do or say will change this. They are hard to train socially, for they have little respect for the concept of right and wrong, yet they will learn well through games.

Like all children, they love to mimic. But even as they copy what they see, the Nine child is analysing the pattern. They want to know how things work, and will research, read and ask questions about anything that piques their interest.

They will keep something unspoken within themselves. If you are sensitive enough to notice, and simply ask what it is, they will often tell you. Otherwise, the Nine child keeps its own counsel, or they will talk to their teddy bear about their discoveries that day. A sense of secrecy and privacy is all important.

These are the children who have secret meetings in the cubby house, creating passwords and the like for admittance.

If you can understand them, these are amazingly easy children to raise. Quite simply, if they respect you, they raise themselves. You will be "on their team", so to speak, and this connection will last their entire life, and puberty will be far less troublesome. This period, by the way, need not be one of dissension and parental alienation. If you connect with your Nine child at an early age, they will keep no secrets from you later on.

Of course, the 1900’s really oversaw an entire a new race coming to planet Earth, but the basic rules of understanding, teaching and directing still apply. Now more than ever we need to establish a respect bond as well as a love bond between ourselves and our children. We need this more than ever, because the Years 2000 will bring such a powerful energy that many children will feel pressed to cope, unless their home life is on solid ground.

Nine's need this stability more than most. Though they are independent they are also greatly aware that home is safety, warmth and love. If the Nine child is given these three things, they will grow up secure and positive in outlook. Without them, the Nine becomes tyrannical and demanding. Safety, warmth and love are essential to their harmony.

The Nine is a mixed mineral makeup, and so they come in all shapes and sizes, but they need to take care of the electrolytic action within their body. These minute electrical charges are extremely important, but particularly so with those strong in the energy of the Nine. This means the Nine has to be careful of the thoughts and attitudes, for negative thinking will suppress their electrolyte (plasmic) balance, which is what is all important in the exchange of minerals and nutrient in the body.

Self discipline is the keystone to the Nine’s continuing happiness, and they are wise to have it instilled at an early age, for otherwise their own streak of independence will work against them, turning into defiance and the scattering of their attention into meaningless mental dialogues.

The Nine woman is a survivor. She knows instinctively when to shut up in the conversation, and also when it is time to walk away. You will often find them working with small companies, for the rush and bother of larger corporations tends to leave them cold. If there is no independence in the workplace, the Nine will be fighting for flexi-time arrangements, or to have a crèche installed, anything which broadens and deepens the view.

She will seek the top job, not because she wishes to climb the ladder, but because she sees that she is the right one for the job. Nine's are rarely ambitious, but they do not like working under those they feel are inferior to themselves. In such a circumstance the Nine woman can, and does, emotionally assassinate the personality of the one they dislike.

The men are gentler, but this is because the masculine energy is more in tune with the Nine than the female. This is true of all the odd numbers, which are masculine, while the even are feminine.

The Nine wife often marries several times, for they simply wear out relationships. They demand a lot, but if they meet a man who can match them, they are docile kittens who love to make him breakfast in bed.

Oddly this is rare, which I suspect has more to do with the weakened male nature in Western Society at this time.

If no success is found in love, the Nine wife will throw her energy into finding success elsewhere. She needs movement and positive growth as a rule, yet the very striving often puts her happiness that one inch away all the time. It is the paradox all Nine persons need to resolve.

The Nine male is forthright, critical of failure both in himself and others, and precise in speech. Further, if they do not express themselves, they can become introverted very easily. Clear expression is essential to their sense of balance. Few choose to argue with the Nine male, mostly because when he does say something it has been well-considered and is fairly difficult to flaw.

They have an imposing presence in conversation, but many times this is a sham and a bluff, for many Nines are busy working on their self image, and they use social situations to brush up on appearances. Politics is high of the agenda of chosen professions, as are any positions of influence where their will might be extended. However, it is not until the Nine practises perfect inner silence that they discover their true identity, and thus their true sense of worth.

They seem tough, but in reality the Nine is a tender soul who needs a great deal of love. If it is missing in their lives, they will turn into hunters chasing down their quarry, but rarely do they truly find the secret their heart is looking for. The Nine will join the Masons, the Rosicrucians, and any mystery sect they can find. They will study old scripts, go on pilgrimages to ancient shrines, and finally realise that the hidden thing they have sought has been in their pocket all along.

It is only then that they learn the inner silence that gives the Nine its balance, and the freedom from the endless cycles of action and reaction.

This then is the key to the Nine: It rests at that point between finalisation and beginning. In any given moment, do you encourage and grow the situation, or end it? Therefore, the Nine has always this element of choice in their lives, which is both a blessing and a curse, if you think about it.

Symbolically the Nine represents the Ninth note in music, or what is really the Second note, higher up the scale. This indicates it is the next step on the higher journey, but of course, this can be the lower journey is the attitude is negative.

It is interesting to note also that Beethoven was deaf when he wrote his Ninth Symphony. This is indicative of the silence of the Nine Vibration, and how it produces its power as the result.
